The historical center
The historic center of Rieti is really beautiful and characteristic. One of the main streets of the historic center is Via Roma, full of activities and shops.
The Piazza San Rufo is very famous. Here you will find a small monument, built right on the most central point of Italy.
The Roman bridge
Do not miss the Roman bridge. The river that flows through the city is the Velino. Here, along the river, there are many beautiful clubs which, in summer or on weekends, are frequented by the inhabitants of the city or the surrounding villages.
During the Christmas holidays the historic center is decorated and is even more suggestive!
If you like the historic center of Rieti, you cannot miss the Rieti Underground. You will need to book a guided tour. There are several associations that offer guided tours around the city, among them: Riattivati.
Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta
Inside the historic center you can find this beautiful cathedral. From the outside you can admire the grandeur of this structure and the wonderful bell tower.
Its peculiarity? It has 10 side chapels.
Not too far from here you can find beautiful and well-kept gardens: the Vignola Gardens.
Walking along the streets outside the historic center, you can admire the city walls.
There were several gates that once favored access to the historic center.

The Flavio Vespasiano Theater
The theater is still open to the public and hosts shows and events of various kinds throughout the year!
Whether you are in Rieti in winter or in summer, a nice walk to Mount Terminillo is a must.
In addition to offering a breathtaking view of the city, in summer there is the possibility of taking a mountain journey to the summit of the mountain, in winter the possibility of skiing (in total there are 10 slopes).
The typical dessert of Rieti is the mimosa cake. In many pastry shops you can also find the “pastarella”: a small ball filled with Chantilly cream!
How to reach Rieti from Rome:
We suggest you to arrive by car.
However if you wish to reach Rieti by train (trenitalia) you need to arrive to Terni and then change for a train to Rieti.
